E-COMMERCEE-COMMERCE April 10 2000 E-Commerce Electronic commerce has its ups and downs for consumers. On one hand, online shopping holds the potential for more convenience and broader selections. On the other, it has bred confusion over the legitimacy of electronic records. Being that the Internet is one of the fastest growing forms of business, it is offering the consumers the convenience of shopping at home. This helps many people who are handicapped, or those who are too busy to go to the store and shop. E-commerce also gives the shopper a wider variety of items to buy from. Being that a conventional store or mall has a limited amount of warehouse space, they can only hold so much in their store. A consumer may be looking for a different brand or another style. With Internet stores and buying straight from the manufacture, the Internet doesn't have to deal with the limited space problem. One of the problems with shopping on the Internet is that people don't believe that the Internet is just like a piece of paper, a binding document. As for e-mail notices consumers don't give them the same scrutiny as other paper notices. Even if the consumer can't open the e-mail or if an automatic junk mail filter throws it away. E-commerce has its ups and downs for consumers. Being that we have entered the internet age I believe that shopping on the internet will take away a lot of the business for the conventional malls and stores |
